The problem
Everyday users and remote workers frequently suffer from untracked micro-leakages on small daily purchases (< Rp 50,000). Existing personal finance apps are often cluttered with corporate charts and require separate calculator apps to sum multi-item receipts, creating high friction.
The approach
Engineered Bocor Halus utilizing React Native (Expo SDK 57) and TypeScript with an empathy-first Earth Tone aesthetic (#FAF7F2 warm cream & #064E3B deep emerald). Implemented an in-app AST math expression evaluator (zero-eval) for typing receipts directly, a real-time visual monthly allowance meter, 1-tap emoji categorization, and an ultra-fast offline storage layer using Expo SQLite.
Highlights
- Offline-first mobile architecture powered by Expo Router and localized Expo SQLite storage.
- Custom AST-based in-app math expression evaluator for zero-friction receipt summation.
- Calming, modern Earth Tone design system paired with fluid React Native Reanimated micro-interactions.
- Dual-engine architecture with native SQLite for mobile and LocalStorage fallback for browser previews.
